Aggie Jewish Open House a Success

by Hope Beitchman, Hillel Marketing and Communications Intern

Last weekend Texas A&M Hillel worked with Rohr Chabad, Sigma Alpha

Mu fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, and Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority to kick off

our fifth annual Aggie Jewish Open House. The weekend is designed to show high

school and prospective students what college life at Texas A&M is really like, and

specifically the Jewish life at Texas A&M.

The weekend’s events included Shabbat services at Hillel and Chabad, followed by Shabbat dinner at Chabad, where prospective students could

experience what Shabbat in Aggieland is really like. After services the prospective

students had the opportunity to stay with college students and experience life in

college.

On Saturday, after Aggieland Saturday, the students met back at Hillel to

listen to a Jewish faculty panel, presentations from the Greek Jewish organizations

on campus, hear from our Jewish life panel and tour our building. This gave the

prospective students a taste of what life here is really like.

To wrap up the successful weekend we ended Shabbat with Havdallah and

dinner at Hillel, the first of several that Hillel will host this semester.

When the weekend was over, all our prospective students left excited about

Texas A&M and we left just as excited to have all our prospective Aggies back here

soon! If you are interested in Texas A&M please contact Rabbi Matt (rabbimatt@tamuhillel.org) or come visit us

next year for Aggie Jewish Open House, or any weekend actually!
