Following the High Holy Days, Hillel students looked forward to celebrating Sukkot in Aggieland’s highest sukkah! The young men of Sigma Alpha Mu assisted in assembling the Hillel sukkah on the second floor patio of Hillel overlooking Kyle Field. A group of students then decorated the sukkah with paper chains, lights, and hanging plastic fruit and vegetables.
We held several events in the sukkah, including first night of Sukkot services and dinner, Shabbat dinner, and Pizza in the Hut. While there were several days of rain in Aggieland, thankfully the weather was remarkable during our events and was nearly perfect for each evening’s celebration. Dozens of Aggie students were able to partake of the mitzvah of eating in the sukkah at some point during the holiday. Following Sukkot, Aggie Hillel looks forward to celebrating the end of the annual Torah reading cycle with the holiday of Simchat Torah, with a party to be held on Thursday, October 16.
